Elins Eagles-Smith Gallery is pleased to announce its first solo exhibition of Bay Area artist Jennifer Bain. A New York native, Bain received a B.F.A from the California College of Arts & Crafts in San Francisco (1982) and an M.F.A. at the San Francisco Art Institute in 1985.
"The Poetry of Nature" will highlight Bain's new body of work, inspired by the landscape of Northern California. The mixed media paintings deftly juxtapose solid bands of highly saturated coloration against diaphanous botanical drawings and images of vegetation. Intended as a visual equivalent of poetic narrative, her disparate, condensed images are meant to draw the viewer through rapid shifts in location and time, effecting emotional transformation throughout the journey. |
